Sun Temple |
Some of the earliest surviving cult temples are from the Old Kingdom. These are the sun temples of the 5th-dynasty kings at Abu Ghurab
The fundamental layout consisted of a reception pavilion connected by a covered corridor on a causeway to the open court of the temple within which stood a squat obelisk made of limestone and a huge alabaster altar.
| Sun Temples, which were dedicated to the sun god Ra. Six, were constructed but only two have been discovered. This reconstruction is based on Niuserre's sun temple at Abu Ghurob.
